The new feature will be implemented in the next update

The folks over at Smoking Gun Interactive have implemented quite a lot of new features in the latest update for Microsoft's Age of Empires: Castle Siege for Windows Phone and iOS.

But a lot more new gameplay features are coming to the game in the next couple of days. According to developers, the most important is the addition of player leagues, which will be available on both Windows Phone and iOS platforms.

“Leagues will bring an additional level of competition to the game for our talented players, allowing you to easily rank yourself against others without having to be in the top 200,” explain developers in a blog post.

The next update will bring two new leaderboards in addition to the current one, which will show the top 200 players and alliances in the game.

Also, one leaderboard will display the league that players compete in as a player, and another shows the league your alliance is in.

A player's matchmaking during battery is still based on power level

For starters, there will be 8 leagues, but developers have confirmed they are willing to add more if the need arises. The number of crowns will determine the league a player is listed on. The crown totals required for each league can be seen on the League Levels screen.

It won't be unusual for a player to be in a different league than their alliance, as that will only depend on crown totals.

Developers also confirmed that each league will be further divided into separate pools, so even if a player has the same amount of crowns as another player in the same league, they might be placed in different pools within that league, and the two of them wouldn't see each other in the competition.

The league names have already been chosen by players, so here they are (from lowest to highest): Peasant, Villager, Squire, Knight, Champion, Noble, Lord, and Duke.

Keep in mind that at the end of each season, awards will be offered to the top three players/alliances in each bucket. More details are promised as developers get closer to the release date for the patch, so stay tuned.
