The adoption of Microsoft Teams has skyrocketed lately as the world started to work from home due to obvious reasons, and the software giant therefore has a key mission of improving the service in such a way that it better addresses the needs of every single customer.

One of the most important features that are yet to be added to Microsoft Teams is support for multiple accounts, something which right now is a top request on UserVoice.

Published in 2017, this feature request has received over 29,000 votes from users across the world, and Microsoft has recently confirmed that it’s indeed working to make it happen.

Multi-account support is thus coming to Microsoft Teams, only that the Redmond-based software firm explains that it’s doing the whole thing in stages.

“The engineering team is continuing to work on adding support for multiple accounts on desktop clients. We will first launch support for 1 work/school account and 1 personal account so users can enjoy Teams for work and personal side-by-side. Windows and MacOS. Support for multiple work accounts is still being worked on and will come at a later date,” a Microsoft Teams engineer confirmed.

The feature is already on its way, says Microsoft

Rumor has it that multi-account support would first be added to mobile clients of Microsoft Teams for iPhone and Android and only then go live for the desktop applications.

For now, however, the good news is that Microsoft is working on making the whole thing happen, especially given the popularity of Microsoft Teams keeps growing and the service has become a more important part of many people’s lives.

There’s no ETA as to when the first stage of the multi-account rollout is supposed to happen, but it’s believed the mobile clients would be updated with this new functionality in early 2021.
