Microsoft kicked off Build 2016 registration at noon, but just as expected, tickets got sold out pretty fast, so if you’re late to the party, you have no other option than to join the waiting list.

This year, however, the company has managed to set a new record, as the conference was sold out in less than five minutes, according to Microsoft’s very own statement.

In a statement offered by the software giant, it reminds that Build continues to stir up interest in the developer community and after selling out in just 45 minutes last year, all tickets were gone this year in just 5 minutes.

"We're excited to see the continued interest in Build. The conference sold out in under 5 minutes, but we encourage developers to register for the wait list should additional tickets open up. Keynotes and select sessions will be also be streamed live starting at 8:30am on Wednesday, March 30. The conference sold out in 45 minutes last year."

No giveaways this year

But what’s also important to note is that this year, the company won’t be giving away any hardware goodies to those who attend the show. Previously, Build attendees received expensive gifts, such as Surface tablets, but this year Redmond goes for a different strategy.

"This year, we will forgo hardware in favor of delivering a deeper technical experience for developers. In addition to great sessions from technical leaders and technology experts, you'll discover Code Labs providing hands-on coding time with Microsoft experts, dialogue with speakers in our Expert Zone, or visit The Hub to see the latest in technology from Microsoft and select partners," the Build site noted.

Build 2016 takes place in San Francisco between March 30 and April 1 and is expected to bring us lots of exciting news, including more information on the company’s plans to port Android and iOS apps to Windows 10.
