Microsoft Begins Selling the Razer Phone 2 as Part of Its Android Offensive

Microsoft has started selling the Razer Phone 2 in the United States as part of the company’s offensive in the Android ecosystem.

The device can be purchased for $799.99 from the Microsoft Store, both online and retail.

Razer Phone 2 comes with a major upgrade over its predecessor and is currently one the top Android devices that you can get. It features a 5.72-inch 120Hz display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 8GB RAM.

The phone features 64GB storage, and a microSD card slot is also offered should you need more storage capacity – and you will, given that only 64GB are available by default.

At the same time, you get a 4,000 mAh battery with wireless charging and fast charging support, plus a dual-camera configuration (12MP + 12MP) with OIS.

Microsoft and the Android push

While for Windows 10 Mobile diehards it may be painful to hear that Microsoft is selling Android phones, this is just part of the company’s efforts to expand in the mobile ecosystems where its apps are still relevant.

Both Android and iOS are currently at the top of the list in terms of mobile investments for Microsoft, and the software giant constantly rolls out new features and improvements for apps available here.

While some say that Microsoft should launch its very own Android phone, the company prefers to stick with apps and services for now. The Microsoft Store is also the place to go if you want to purchase other Android phones, like the ones from Samsung, including the recently-launched Note 9.

These devices come with a series of Microsoft apps for Android pre-installed, including Microsoft Office, Skype, and OneDrive. This way, the software giant can make sure more people would give its apps a try on Android, especially when buying phones from its own stores.
