Microsoft is expected to unveil the second-generation Band at a hardware event on October 6, so the company itself and retailers across the world are now trying to clear up inventories and sell as many units as possible.

So it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that Best Buy is now offering one of the biggest discounts ever for the first Band model. The device is now up for grabs from Best Buy’s eBay page for only $99.99, a discount of 50 percent that’s available only for a limited time.

Best Buy doesn’t say how long this offer is going to last, so if you want to buy the first Band, you really need to hurry up.

The second-generation Band

Microsoft has remained completely tight-lipped on the second-generation Band, but the company did confirm earlier this year that the device should arrive this fall, so it makes sense to expect its debut next month.

As far as features are concerned, nothing is confirmed so far, but it appears that Microsoft’s going for a curved display that would make it more comfortable on your wrist. The first-generation model had a straight display, so Microsoft’s trying a difference approach this time.

More sensors are expected to be offered too, while the battery could now be placed underneath the screen.

It’s believed that Microsoft’s already testing the second-generation Band in Europe, which could be a sign that an international launch is planned from the very beginning. The first model was only available in the United States and Microsoft decided to launch it in other markets at a later time after demand increased significantly.

More information about the new Band is expected to be unveiled on October 6, with sales likely to begin in November, approximately one year after the original model made its debut in Microsoft’s home market. Redmond is believed to be planning similar pricing or add a few extra bucks because of the new sensors and premium materials.
