The second-generation Microsoft Band smart wristband is just around the corner, as the software giant is expected to unveil it on October 6 together with the Surface Pro 4 and the new Lumias, but the company's remaining tight-lipped on this new product in the meantime.

But concept designer Armend Lleshi has used some Microsoft Band 2 leaked photos that reached the web in the past week to create his own interpretation of the device, which in his opinion should run Windows 10 and perform a number of tasks that the operating system would allow.

As you can see in the photo gallery after the jump or the video at the end of the article, a Microsoft Band 2 running Windows 10 could bring together Redmond's most important hardware devices, offering the familiar look and feel on the desktop, in the pocket, or on the wrist.

That would be a great achievement for Microsoft, so if it's not already thinking about this, it really should because this concept proves that it's not impossible to bridge PCs, tablets, smartphones, and wristband in a really helpful way.

Band 2 features

Thanks to Windows 10, the imagined version of the Band 2 can perform a number of tasks, such as acting as a remote camera shutter, control phone calls, or even run universal apps.

The last part is definitely interesting because Microsoft's designing universal apps for screens of all sizes, so they might have a place on a small display like the one of a smartwatch. Apps such as calculator, clock, and alarm would really make sense on a device this small.

Cortana could also be part of the feature lineup to perform the usual tasks, such as currency conversion and searching the web for info.

Obviously, this is just a concept, and Microsoft is unlikely to go for something this big for the moment, but it shows a version of the Band that could really be a hit.
