Microsoft has recently released a new update for the Band 2 and the official Health companion app, rolling out several new features as part of one of the biggest improvements pack launch since the debut of the device in October 2015.

Specifically, the new update brings an option to “connect and compete with your friends,” which adds another social side to the Band 2 and lets you get in touch with your Facebook contacts.

This feature allows you to “create challenges for steps, floors climbed, cardio minutes, runs, and bike rides between you and your Facebook friends who also use Microsoft Health,” so you thus have another reason to improve your workouts.

A similar feature is also available on Fitbit devices, where customers are provided with a set of challenges and awards every time they achieve new personal records. Competing against friends who have the same wearable seems to be quite a motivating factor to exercise more, so there you go, the Band 2 has it too starting with this update.

More tiles on the start strip

Another feature that’s being added with this latest update lets you choose which apps send you notifications. This means that you are finally allowed to select the apps whose notifications you want to see on the wrist, which is undoubtedly a very helpful addition if you have tons of apps installed on your phones.

And last but not least, this update brings a feature to add more tiles to the Band 2 start strip. You can now select a maximum of 20 tiles to appear on the device.

To get all these new features, all you have to do is to update the Health app to the latest version. So go ahead and download Microsoft Health for Windows, Android, and iOS right away to update your Band 2 with the aforementioned features.
