Microsoft Band 2 owners who also have an Android phone might want to sync the wearable with this device, as the company has just rolled out a new update for the Health app that brings several new features on handsets powered by Google’s platform.

Currently at version 1.3.20128.2, the Microsoft Health app brings on Android the possibility of sharing workouts with friends. You can thus create custom guided workouts in the web dashboard and then send them to your contacts with just a few clicks.

At the same time, this update also comes with features to track weight and helps you maintain the current level or reach specific goals with reminders and instructions. And what’s more important is that you also get sports scores, news headlines, and other information from the phone on your wrist with access to the web tile gallery.

GPS features to improve battery life

This new version for Android devices also comes with GPS Power Saver, which, according to Microsoft, can be enabled in the Bike or Run Tile and can extend battery life up to 4 hours.

Microsoft Band, now at the second generation, is Redmond’s big bet in the wearables market and comes with a long lineup of sensors and features supposed to help you track your exercises, stay fit, and work out just like a pro.

The device features a 1.26-inch AMOLED screen, and thanks to its cross-platform Bluetooth support, it can work with the majority of mobile phones currently on the market, including not only Windows Phone and Android but also iOS. Most of the features are available on all devices, with the exception of Cortana, which requires a Windows Phone or Windows 10 Mobile to work properly.

Certainly, such updates come in handy to Band users with an Android phone, so just go to the store and download the new Microsoft Health app version on your device as soon as possible.
