Microsoft Band 2 is the next big thing for the software giant in the wearables market and pundits say that its debut should take place on October 6, but in the meantime, the company itself remains completely tight-lipped on everything related to this device.

But because Microsoft obviously needs to stir up interest in its new products before their actual debut, information that more or less confirms their existence “accidentally” reaches the web, and this is exactly what happened with the second-generation Band.

As WinSuperSite reports, Redmond published links to the official Band 2 documentation on the website belonging to the first-generation model, thus confirming that the new version is just around the corner.

The published links were dead, so no information was available there, but the short mention of the Band 2 on the support pages seems to be confirmation enough for everyone to know that a new model is coming.

Features and availability

Renders that reached the web lately and allegedly showed the final design of the new Band indicate that Microsoft is finally ready to go for a curved display, which is supposed to make the device feel more comfortable on the wrist.

At the same time, it’s believed that the second Band would come with more sensors to track exercises and support for more sports, but this thing is uncertain right now, especially because the first model was already packed with sensors. Also, the battery might now be placed underneath the display.

As far as availability is concerned, Microsoft might be planning to launch it in both the United States and international markets at the same time, with some sources claiming that the device is already being tested on the Old Continent.

The first model debuted in the United States only at first, with approximately 30,000 units produced as part of a pilot program, but once demand increased, Redmond decided to make it available all over the world.
