Microsoft has just shipped a new preview build of Windows 11 to users who are part of the Windows Insider program. Only users enrolled in the Beta and Release Preview channels are getting it.

Windows 11 build 22000.466 is fully focused on bug fixes and performance optimizations, though it includes plenty of changes supposed to make the experience with the OS more polished overall.

For example, Microsoft says it has finally managed to resolve a glitch that caused the audio service to stop on some devices, while also addressing a glitch affecting the app icons when the apps themselves aren’t running. In some cases, the icons on the taskbar might indicate these apps are running, when in fact, they haven’t been launched.

Lots of fixes for Windows 11

There are also fixes for VPN issues and for the taskbar. Microsoft explains:

“We fixed an issue that affects the auto-hide feature of the taskbar. The taskbar might not reliably appear when you hover over the primary or secondary display. We fixed an issue that affects the loading of badging information on the taskbar, which sometimes causes a device to stop working.

We fixed an issue that might cause VPN profiles to disappear. This issue occurs when you use Microsoft Intune or a third-party mobile device management (MDM) tool to deploy VPN profiles on Windows 11 (original release).”

This new build comes with additional polishing to improve the installation of apps on ARM64 devices, and it also updates the daylight saving time settings for Jordan to start in February 2022.

And last but not least, this update resolves a previous Windows 11 glitch that Microsoft has already confirmed. The bug in question causes some image editing programs to render colors incorrectly on certain HDR displays, so after installing the new build, everything should be working properly.
