Microsoft has announced a new set of updates for Microsoft Teams on the phone, as the company says it focused on improving the meeting experience and the overall mobile app.

First and foremost, Microsoft is announcing remote provisioning and sign-in from Teams Admin Center.

“We are excited to bring a feature customers have been frequently requesting-the ability for IT admins to deploy a device without needing to be physically present in the room. Four short steps allow a phone to light up simply from the Teams admin center,” the company explains.

The sign-in screen has also been simplified, as devices will now show a device code when turned on. The process is as straightforward as possible, as IT admins and users only need to enter the code into a browser or sign into the phone. The classic username and password combo continues to be available as well, Microsoft says.

Then, the new update also includes multi-cloud sign-in support.

Transferring calls to work voicemail

Another notable improvement concerns the bottom bar that you see during a meeting and which can now be persistent in the app.

“A new option will allow for the bottom bar which hosts the mute/unmute feature, video on/off control, and toggles between Gallery and TogetherMode, to remain persistent on the user’s screen. This way users do not need to tap once to activate the menu and then tap again their desired option. With this simplicity, users can stay in the flow of their collaboration and reduce distractions. Additionally, we’ve made it easier to get to reactions so participants can express non-verbal sentiment,” Microsoft explains.

Users will also be able to transfer a call to work voicemail, thus being able to leave someone a message without actually ringing on their side. The new option has been added to the call menu in the app.
