Microsoft has published the update roadmap for its new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser, providing us with more information on the new features coming to users in the next releases.

For example, a February update for Microsoft Edge will include fixes for favorites synchronization, as Microsoft is aware of issues like sync not working, deleted favorites reappearing, and some favorites being duplicated.

Additionally, Microsoft says Edge is also projected to receive extension synchronization options this month, along with a new option to set a custom photo as the New Tab Page background photo.

And last but not least, the company promises it’ll address feedback for better handling of links where there is more than one profile with the release of the February update as well.

Update coming by the end of February

A feature that would enable browsing history between devices will land in the summer of this year, Microsoft says.

There are also several other features planned for a future update but without an ETA, including inking on web pages, different options for sorting favorites, and support for themes in the Chrome Web Store.

“Enable navigation of PDF files via table of contents is now Under Review. This feature would allow users to use the table of contents in a PDF file as an interactive feature where one can click on an item in the list and go straight to it,” Microsoft says when discussing the new features coming to Microsoft Edge. “We think you all will be excited to see that one of our top items has moved to In Discussion: Bring the tab preview feature from the current version of Microsoft Edge.”

More specifics as to when the new update is projected to launch aren’t yet available, but it should go live with the promised features any day in the next couple of weeks.
