Here’s another reason to give up on Google

Bing is pretty much the only viable alternative to Google Search, and thanks to an update that Microsoft announced this week, you may have another reason to make the switch.

Starting with this new pack of improvements, Bing offers more advanced data and insights when looking for hotel information, helping you make a booking that better matches your needs.

First and foremost, Bing now displays what are described as intelligent tips, offering information like higher-rated hotels around the ones that you’re looking at. This feature looks into several key details, including price and location, so you may end up finding a better hotel offering cheaper rooms and closer to an airport, for example.

Furthermore, Bing now offers a price trends view to view how the rate evolved for a specific date range, as well as a comparison view to compare several hotels side by side and make the best choice.

Home services improvements

Microsoft has also prepared Bing improvements for home services, like pricing and scheduling. For example, searching for service providers for a specific location lets you get a quote and receive information using Yelp from up to 10 providers.

And last but not least, Bing now comes with refined experience for coupons and deals, and it’s all just a search distance.

“Bing now aggregates deals across first- and third-party listings then displays them when you search for retailers or coupons. We surface relevant insights like ‘expiring soon’, whether the offers are online or in-store only, and more,” Microsoft explains.

As you can easily figure out given that many of these features rely on other services, this pack of improvements is specifically aimed at the US market, which is quite a shame given that they would come in super-handy to users elsewhere too.

Home services price ranges are available on all platforms, while the rest of the features are only offered to users on the desktop exclusively. An international release may happen in the coming months, Microsoft says.
