Microsoft has announced a new update for Office insiders that bumps the version of the productivity suite to 1807 build 10325.20030.

First and foremost, Microsoft has improved working with stock quotes in Microsoft Excel. Starting with this version, you can retrieve the latest stock price, change in price, and other info with a new Stocks data type, and Microsoft says that a Geography data type has also been implemented.

“These two data types are new, and they are considered linked data types because they have a connection to an online data source. That connection allows you to bring back rich, interesting information that you can work with and refresh,” Microsoft explains.

Microsoft PowerPoint is getting an option that was previously introduced in other Office apps: hyperlinks aren’t just blue, as users are allowed to choose any color they want for the links.

Outlook and Project improvements

Outlook email client receives people suggestions in Scheduling Assistant, which makes it easier to create new invites by simply typing contact names.

“Ever wished you didn't have to switch back on forth between the Scheduling Assistant and your meeting invite when adding attendees? Wish no more! The Scheduling Assistant now provides people suggestions,” Microsoft notes.

This month, Microsoft Project is also receiving some improvements, like recent save locations, a feature that’s been around for Word, Excel, and other apps for many months. With this update, Project users can see the recent save locations right within the saving UI, thus being able to select the same folder for their new documents.

All these improvements are available for users who are parent of the Insider program for the Microsoft Office productivity suite, but this is just the first step ahead of the broad launch of the update. If no major bugs are discovered, the release should take place in the coming weeks for all users.
