New update now available for Office insiders

Microsoft has recently announced the June 2018 insider update for Microsoft Office on Android, delivering a set of improvements and new features that are supposed to become available for all users in just a few weeks.

With this new release, Microsoft Office for Android reaches version 16.0.10325.20010, and is currently a preview of the July 2018 update.

Microsoft Word is getting two new features this month. First, you can see the word count as you scroll, so when working with larger documents, you’re always capable of keeping an eye on how many words and characters are in your file no matter what.

Additionally, Microsoft Word receives zooming improvements, and Microsoft says that zoom now snaps to fit documents to your screen without wasting any space. This is definitely a welcome tweak given the limited screen estate on a smartphone and the wide array of display sizes in the Android ecosystem.

Outlook and PowerPoint improvements

Microsoft Outlook is getting a couple of new features as well. First, users will be allowed to delete contacts in Outlook for Android, and then, to enable a do not disturb mode that turns off email notifications at certain moments.

PowerPoint users can quickly capture and share images with fewer taps. Microsoft has made it easier to work with photos, and again, this is an improvement that comes in very handy since on a smartphone we don’t have the same control as on a PC with a mouse and keyboard.

And furthermore, users working with presentations can access comments and notes, and read and edit slides easier than before with an improved review mode that works in both portrait and landscape modes.

All these features are projected to be released to all users with the launch of Microsoft Office for Android update next month. Insiders can try them out right away by updating to the latest release.
