Microsoft has just announced that its new flagship store in London would open its doors on July 11 this year.

While rumors regarding a potential inauguration of the new flagship store have been swirling around for several months already, Microsoft itself remained tight-lipped on everything related to this location, despite the company starting hiring staff in several departments earlier this year.

In a press release shared today, Microsoft confirms the store will be located on Oxford Circus and covers no less than 21,932 square feet on a total of three floors.

This will be the first physical Microsoft Store in the United Kingdom, and in addition to selling products developed by the Redmond-based tech giant, it will also feature an Answer Desk to help provide support and training to customers.

Microsoft will also set up a Community Theatre, which will be used for workshops and other programs aimed at customers of the company.

First European store

John Carter has been appointed the manager of the store, and he says the whole idea behind this project is to provide visitors with much more than the typical experience you get when stepping into an IT store.

“This will be more than just a store. Customers will have the chance to explore and get hands-on with technology. We’ve got a passionate group of store associates ready to bring the experience of tech alive for customers. Unique to any job in retail, there will be many ways for us to give back to our communities, help them build connections and grow,” he says.

The London store will be the first Microsoft retail location in Europe. At this point, the other flagship stores are located in New York and Sydney, while regular stores are located in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Microsoft operates online stores in more than 190 countries worldwide.
