Microsoft has announced a dedicated Windows Spotlight theme in Windows 11 as part of the company’s latest preview build shipped to insiders in the Dev channel.

Windows Spotlight is a great feature, there’s no doubt about it. However, until recently, Windows Spotlight has only been available on the lock screen, so its debut on the desktop is without a doubt big news.

In Windows 11, Windows Spotlight can be configured to rotate its high-quality wallpapers on the desktop as well, and now Microsoft is bringing a dedicated theme to users to make the whole thing even more convenient.

“You can now enable Windows Spotlight on the desktop via a brand-new Windows Spotlight theme now included in the latest builds in the Dev Channel under Settings > Personalization and Settings > Personalization > Themes. Additionally, you can make your own custom themes with Windows Spotlight’s rotating images as well,” Microsoft announced.

More good news in the latest build

The most recent Windows 11 preview build also comes with additional fixes, including for a Windows Security glitch that triggered a message telling that standard hardware security wasn’t supported.

“Fixed an issue believed to be the root cause of Windows Security saying standard hardware security wasn’t supported on devices where it was actually supported, as well as showing a warning in the taskbar but not showing any issues when Windows Security was launched. Please note, due to timing of the payload, these issues may come back after the next Windows Security update. It will go away again after a future Windows Security update,” Microsoft explains in the official changelog.

For now, all these changes are only exclusive to insiders, and Microsoft says an ETA can’t be provided because the only goal right now is to run more tests and collect feedback from users.
