Users can now customize the Microsoft Teams sidebar

The adoption of Microsoft Teams keeps improving at a super-fast pace, and it all happens for a good reason. With the global health crisis not coming to an end and a second wave getting closer and closer, more companies are keeping their employees at home and turn to Microsoft Teams for allowing them to stay in touch with each other.

And since more people are using Teams these days, Microsoft is also working around the clock to actually improve the experience with the app, and this includes not only performance improvements, which are so necessary these days given the record number of users connecting at the same time, but also new features.

So today, Microsoft is announcing a new update for Microsoft Teams that allows users to customize the sidebar in the app.

Pinning teams to the sidebar, the next stop

In other words, you can now pin and unpin the items there, and personally, I think this is quite a welcome improvement.

I like things to be as clean as possible, so I want the items that I don’t use to just go away and leave the sidebar for the features that I really use.

Microsoft hasn’t provided any announcement about the new feature, but the company did say in a comment on the Microsoft Teams UserVoice thread that it indeed added such functionality this week.

“We’ve added the ability to customize your left side bar. you can now rearrange and pin/unpin all of your apps,” a member of the Microsoft Teams group said.

For now, you can’t pin teams right to the sidebar, as this is one of the things that I would really like to see being added in a future Microsoft Teams update, so you just have to stick with features and apps.

The new pin and unpin option should be live for all Microsoft Teams users.
