Microsoft and Facebook Meta have announced a new partnership that’s bringing Microsoft Teams integration into Workplace.

The purpose is to make it easier for employees and companies to communicate, as users would no longer have to switch between the two platforms whenever they need to chat.

“We’re launching an integration between Workplace and Teams, which will give employees access to content from Workplace within Teams without having to switch back and forth between the two apps. This will make it even easier for employees to stay up to date with important information, and will open up more opportunities for company-wide feedback and engagement,” Meta announced today.

Furthermore, Microsoft and Meta say they are working on even more advanced features that will allow users to stream from Teams Meetings directly into Workplace groups.

More advanced capabilities coming next year, Meta says

In other words, employees will be able to watch meetings no matter what platform they are currently on, simply because Workplace and Teams will be inter-connected, allowing for easy streaming. This feature will go live next year, Meta says, though some companies have already tried out the new integration as part of a pilot program.

“Customers including Vodafone, Flight Centre Travel Group and Lockton have been trialing the Workplace integration with Teams and are excited by the ability to communicate with all their employees, regardless of what tool they are using,” Meta explains.

This isn’t the first partnership between Meta and Microsoft, as the two have also worked together on connecting other products, including Workplace and SharePoint, OneDrive, and Office 365. So right now, the integration between Workplace and Microsoft Teams is a continuation to the previous collaborations, and this makes total sense given Workplace is already one of the most used apps on Azure AD.
