The launch was delayed until next week, and still…

If you’re a Windows insider, you probably know that Microsoft decided to push back the release of Windows 10 Mobile build 10536 to the next week after finding a major bug at the very last minute.

This decision obviously caused frustration among the insider community, but it turns out that not everyone was disappointed.

Microsoft accidentally pushed Windows 10 Mobile build 10536 to some testers, who got it via the phone update feature integrated into the operating system. Needless to say, many rushed to install it without waiting any longer, so a couple hundred actually managed to do that before Microsoft figured out what happened and pulled the plug on the download.

In a short statement on Twitter, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, and the one who brought the bad news regarding the delay on Friday morning, has confirmed the unfortunate event and said that approximately 200 installs of build 10536 have already been recorded.

“Yes, there about 200 installs of 10536.1003. We were staging to release and a few successful scans happened before pulling,” he explained.

Public release next week

Microsoft pulled the plug on build 10536 at the very last minute because of an upgrade issue that might block devices running it from updating to a newer build when it becomes available, so phones that got and installed this version might have to be flashed.

Aul has already explained that Microsoft wants to speed up Windows 10 Mobile preview builds releases, so if you haven’t already installed the accidentally released build 10536, don’t be too upset because it saves you from additional reset work when a new version comes out.

Microsoft is now expected to release build 10536 to everyone sometime in the next couple of days, as the Windows team promised to work day and night until this happens.
