The Bolt Q338 has been officially introduced in India, a new report confirms. The entry-level smartphone was spotted on Micromax's website last month, but customers will now be able to purchase it for only Rs 6,499 ($100 / €90) outright.
Even though this is a budget smartphone, this hasn't stopped Micromax from putting Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system inside. Obviously, you shouldn't expect any other major updates for the Bolt Q338, but you should be fine with Lollipop.
Spec-wise, Micromax Bolt Q338 isn't as appealing as one might think, even if this is an entry-level smartphone that we're talking about.
So, aside from the fact that it comes pre-loaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Bolt Q338 is a standard budget handset.
It comes with a translator application for Indian languages
It sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Firstouch, a patented translator app that translates from English to local languages and vice versa.
It's also worth mentioning that the translator application included by Micromax inside the Bolt Q338 only supports 10 Indian languages
When it comes to hardware, the smartphone is equipped with 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor, a Mali 400 MP2 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.
Micromax Bolt Q338 packs only 8GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
On the back, the device features an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
The Bolt Q338 supports both 3G and dual-SIM, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS. It's also powered by a 2,000 mAh battery.
As a promotional offer, Airtel customers who purchase the Bolt Q338 will also receive 200MB of free data for WhatsApp usage or talk time worth Rs 40 ($0.6 / €0.5) per month for 5 months.
