Konami has just provided customers with some more details about the pretty major glitch that affects Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and causes the corruption of save game files.

After confirming that it has to do with using Quiet as a buddy during specific missions, the studio mentions that only some specific items trigger the actual issue. What's more, it announces that a fix is being developed right now and should retroactively repair save data already harmed by the glitch.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launched at the beginning of the month, and millions of fans have flocked to the latest entry in the long-running franchise published by Konami and developed by Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions team.

The save game corruption bug gets new details, and a fix is coming soon

While the game had a pretty smooth launch, Konami admitted earlier this week that a pretty major glitch was spotted in the game across all of its platforms, i.e. PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

The actual bug causes the save game files to get corrupted, rendering them unreadable by the actual game. The Japanese company confirmed that the main cause relates to using Quiet as a buddy during two specific missions, in the form of Episode 29 and Episode 42.

Now, Konami comes up on its website with a bit more information, as some specific items and stats cause the save corruption, not just the general act of using Quiet as an ally.

Apparently, players can still use Quiet in the missions if they also enable the Butterfly Emblem throughout it or avoid raising their Bond level with Quiet to the maximum during the actual missions.

Konami's team is currently working on a fix for the problem, and besides eliminating the glitch, it's also going to repair any save data that's been affected by the corruption. Unfortunately, it's unclear when the update is going to arrive for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, or Xbox 360.
