Today, March 30, 2016, Collabora's Emil Velikov has announced the immediate availability for download of the fourth and last RC (Release Candidate) build of the highly anticipated Mesa 11.2.0 3D graphics library.

While many of us were expecting to see the final release of Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2 out the door in the second week of March, as originally planned, or at least the RC4 build announced today, it looks like the Mesa development team ran into some issues that needed to be resolved before the final Mesa 11.2 could be released.

Today's Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2.0 Release Candidate 4 build is here with a pretty large changelog that includes over 40 changes, consisting of performance improvements to various drivers, such as Intel i965, Radeon, and Nouveau, as well as fixes for some of the issues reported since the third RC release.

"As most of you have noticed it's been a while since Mesa 11.2.0 rc3. So without further ado here is the fourth and final release candidate for Mesa 11.2.0," said Emil Velikov, Software Release Engineer at Collabora. "I'm planning for the final release to be out this Friday (1st of April) around 16 PM GMT."

Mesa 3D 11.2 arrives on Friday, April 1

If it's not a joke, the final release of the Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2 should debut this Friday, April 1, 2016, with all the goodies that have been implemented during its entire development cycle comprised of a total of four RC (Release Candidate) builds. So, in two days, we should be able to download the Mesa 11.2.0 sources.

Until then, you can help the Mesa team find and fix the last remaining bugs, if any, by downloading and testing the Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.2.0 Release Candidate 4 (RC4) build announced today, which is available right now on our website. Check out the changelog attached below for more details about the changes added in Mesa 11.2.0 RC4.
