14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Mobile recently released a new Android Oreo firmware for the Xperia X and X Compact smartphones which includes Google's Android Security Patch for February 2018 with mitigations for the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities.
Xperia Blog reports that Sony's Xperia X and X Compact smartphones have received firmware version 34.4.A.2.19, which will upgrade devices using firmware version 34.4.A.0.364. Powered by Linux kernel 3.10.84, the update reportedly includes the Android security patch level of February 1, 2018.
The Android Security Patch for February 2018 is known to contain patches against the nasty Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities unearthed last month by various security researchers, which were later discovered to affect billions of devices using modern processors made in the past two decades.
Users are urged to update their devices as soon as possible
If you own either the Sony Xperia X or Xperia X Compact, it is strongly recommended to update your devices as soon as possible to firmware version 34.4.A.2.19, which can be downloaded and installed via the OTA (Over-the-Air) update system. Your device will be automatically rebooted for the update to be correctly installed.
