Great news for Meizu fans, as the Chinese company plans to launch a compact version of the Pro 5 high-end smartphone. Rumors about a possible Meizu Pro 5 Mini smartphone leaked a while ago, but details about its specs were completely inaccurate.

Today, new information about the mini version of Meizu Pro 5 popped up online. The folks over at TechGrapple have just spotted an unannounced Meizu M57AC smartphone, which they claim it's the upcoming Pro 5 Mini.

The smartphone is now listed in GFXBench database, which suggests the Chinese company is actively testing the handset and is likely to make it official in the coming weeks.

According to the benchmark listing, Meizu Pro 5 Mini should pack a 4.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. That's a much smaller screen than the 5.7-inch screen included in the standard model.

Lower specs, but also cheaper price

On the inside, the Mini packs a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, complemented by Mali-T720 graphics processing unit, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The original Meizu Pro 5 comes equipped with an Exynos 7420 chipset, either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB internal memory.

At the back, the Mini version boasts a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, whereas at the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Just like Meizu Pro 5, the Mini model will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but we don't rule out a possible upgrade to Marshmallow sometime next year.

There's no word on price and availability yet, but rumor has it that the Meizu Pro 5 Mini will be launched in China in early 2016 for around $170 outright, so stay tuned for more updates on this one.
