14 DAY TRIAL // One of the cheapest smartphones powered by MediaTek's octa-core Helio X10 processor, the Meizu Metal, is now available for pre-order internationally.
The Chinese company introduced the smartphone about two weeks ago, but the international version of the Meizu Metal was said to come sometime in early December.
However, those who can't wait until Meizu makes the Metal available for purchase in countries other than China can now pre-order the smartphone for slightly more.
Meizu launched the Metal in China for just 1,099 yuan ($175 / €150) for the 16GB, or 1,299 yuan ($205 / €180) for the 32GB model.
But if you live in a completely different part of the world, then you will have to pay a higher price to get any of the two versions.
The good news is you can pre-order Meizu Metal 16GB for $230 and the 32GB model for $260 outright, and not pay for shipping regardless of your location.
A stylish mid-range smartphone with some high-end features
The only downside would be that the pre-sales will end on November 28, and your smartphone will ship within 3-5 business days, so you might receive it sometime in early December.
As mentioned earlier, Meizu Metal is equipped with a powerful 64-bit 2GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.
Also, the smartphone flaunts a large 5.5-inch LTPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution featuring scratch-resistant glass.
As the name suggests, the device is fully made of metal. It also comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.
Connectivity-wise, Meizu Metal offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS and GLONASS.
The smartphone comes with a fingerprint scanner and a non-removable 3,140 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
