Chinese company Meizu is the latest handset maker announcing Android Lollipop updates for some of its products.

Meizu fans will be pleased to know that the handset maker has picked some of the most popular mid-range smartphones in its lineup for these Lollipop updates.

According to a new report coming from GizmoChina, the following Meizu smartphones should receive Flyme 5.0 OS updates based on Android Lollipop: MX4, MX4 Pro, and M1 Note.

The update should be available for download before the Spring Festival in February, but a beta version will be released as early as tomorrow (December 10).

The information comes directly from China via Weibo, but it's unclear whether or not the beta version of Flyme 5.0 OS will be available for all three Meizu smartphones mentioned earlier.

A beta version will be available for download tomorrow

However, we do know that the beta update won't be pushed OTA, as there's no beta program that users could enroll into. This means that those who want to test Flyme 5.0 OS until Meizu decides to release the final build will have to download it manually from the company's official website.

We're still waiting for Meizu to come forward with all the details regarding these beta Flyme 5.0 OS updates for MX4, MX4 Pro and M1 Note.

If you decide to flash the upcoming beta build, then you should expect to come across bugs and issues, as well as possible crashes, which you will need to report directly to Meizu so that they can be addressed in future updates.

Flyme 5.0 OS is strongly inspired from Apple's iOS UI, but we hope Meizu will be able to add some Marshmallow features.

The Chinese company is working to bring Flyme 5.0 OS to some of its smartphones for quite some time now, so let's hope the updates will arrive sooner rather than later.
