Meitu V4 is the ultimate selfie-taking machine

From the plethora of Chinese smartphone makers trying to make an impression on the domestic and international market, many got lost along the way. However, there are some, like Xiaomi, Huawei or Meizu, who are gaining more and more notoriety.

But what about Meitu? You probably haven’t heard of it until now, but the device maker already has a few models available on the market and they all have one thing in common: they offer advanced selfie-taking capabilities.

And now, it seems that the device maker has another model in the pipeline, one that will take selfie-shooting to a whole new level. The Meitu V4 popped up in China’s TENAA regulatory agency boasting a whopping 21MP selfie camera.

Meitu maintains the photographic standard all the way across the phone, by also offering a 21MP main camera. Internal specifications are pretty decent as well.

Meitu V4 is a pretty worthy phone

The handset features a 5-inch OLED display with 441 ppi density and 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Under the hood lies an unnamed 2GHz octa-core CPU (it’s probably the MediaTek MT6592, but we’re not told specifically what’s what).

Meitu also throws in 3GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage (with no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion, but it seems that you wouldn’t need it anyway). The phone also supports 4G LTE and features an 8.95 mm / 0.35 inch frame, so you can’t say it’s the slimmest one out there.

Meitu V4 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and might be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point in the future, but this is just pure speculation at this point.

Apart from the huge 21MP selfie camera, another atypical aspect of the V4 is its oddly round top and bottom. The phone will be offered in pink, white and green. We don’t know exactly when this selfie-taking machine will make it out into the wild, but it should be soon enough.

Speaking of phones with atypical shapes, the Elephone P9000 also fits in the same category. The device features similar specs as the V4 and will also launch in the near future.
