While there are several important app developers who are leaving Windows phones these days, others seem to notice the opportunity in coding for the platform and announce universal apps that would work on both PCs and mobile phones.

This is the case of MEGA, the famous cloud-based storage service which has always been a fan of Windows, and it turns out that nothing’s going to change in the coming months.

MEGA has confirmed that it’s working on a universal app for Windows 10, but hasn’t provided any other details, such as the release date. What we know, however, is that it’s supposed to launch soon, so there’s a chance that the MEGA universal app could make its public appearance by the time the Creators Update for Windows 10 goes live in early 2017.

Asked on Twitter if there are plans to support Windows phones, MEGA explained that this is indeed on the table and a universal app should see daylight as soon as possible.

“We are surely working on It,” the company’s official Twitter handle asked. “As soon as possible,” they added when asked when exactly it plans to release the app. “Sorry we do not have a time frame available at the moment.”

There’s still hope for Windows phones

Windows 10 Mobile is set to receive a major update in early 2017 with the Creators Update (internally referred to as Redstone 2), which is expected to bring many more improvements for smartphones, as compared to the previous updates.

Microsoft itself promised more substantial improvements for smartphones in 2017, hinting that the Creators Update would indeed be the first step towards this goal, so expect the next few months to bring more in terms of novelties for Windows 10 Mobile users.

Everyone’s also hoping that Microsoft is planning some new devices as well, but the existing rumors are only pointing to sad changes, including the complete demise of the Lumia brand that could take place in December.
