Mass Effect Andromeda, the next installment in the Mass Effect series, won’t arrive in 2016, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has revealed today.

The Mass Effect games developed by the famous Bioware studio have made a huge impact on the community. They depicted one of the most interesting Sci-fi stories in the gaming industry in the past decade and spawned lots of other content, like books, comics and much more.

A new Mass Effect title that doesn’t use any of the old characters and that is set to take place in the Andromeda galaxy had already been announced by Electronic Arts, and we were hoping that we would be able to play it sometime in 2016. That’s not going to happen.

More games are moving in the spring

Most big-budget games usually launch before the winter holiday. However, it looks like publishers are now trying to move some of the big titles in the spring. All kinds of interesting games, such as The Division, Quantum Break, and many others.

EA's CFO, Blake Jorgensen, talked at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, and a user on NeoGAF posted some information about what he was saying.

“We've got a great year ahead... we've got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it's called TItanfall, it's the second title that they brought into that brand. We have our Mirror's Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we're pretty excited," announced Blake Jorgensen.

He was talking about the fourth quarter, but that actually means sometime between January and March. Since most publishers these days seem to be trying to get their games out in March, it will most likely be closer to that month.
