Comics fans know better who Miles Morales is and what he's capable of, so we won't go into too many details on that matter. Suffice to say, the comic books superhero is very important to Sony who decided to bring Miles into the video gaming world.

Two years after Peter Parker made its debut in Marvel's Spider-Man, the fine folks at Insomniac Games announced a brand new installment in the Spider-Man universe. As the title says, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an upcoming PlayStation 5 games that we expect to get later this year.

Although from the trailer showcased last week we guessed this is a sequel to the 2018 hit, it's not. Also, it's not an expansion or a remaster either. Sony clarified one of its spokesperson's statements who wrongfully communicated that Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a remaster and an expansion to the original game.

That being said, we now know for sure that Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone game in the Spider-Man universe, but it's not a sequel to the original game launched two years ago. It's exactly what Lost Legacy was for the Uncharted series, a game smaller in scope, but featuring powerful characters and smooth gameplay mechanics.

Nothing is known about the game in terms of story, just that it's set in New York and that Miles Morales picks up the vigilante's cape to fight baddies and protect the innocents.

Sony didn't announce a release date for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales yet, but we can safely assume this will be a launch title, which means it will be out alongside the PlayStation 5 this holiday. Another aspect that hasn't been clarified by Sony is whether or not the game will be coming to current generation consoles.

Still, it's hard not to guess that Sony will want as many people to get their hands on their new game, so Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is likely to arrive on PlayStation 4 as well later this year.
