Marshall is a well-known company that designs external speakers, headphones and amps for pros. They cost a lot, but they also promise the highest music quality.

Well, it looks like the company thought it would be wise to spice up its portfolio a bit by launching an Android smartphone.

Obviously, the new handset is aimed at audiophiles who won't look twice at such a unique device with Marshall's brand.

The new Marshall-designed smartphone is called London and is now available for pre-order for no less than SEK 4,995, which is about €540 or $585.

According to Marshall, the smartphone should start shipping beginning August 17. Customers who pre-order the London will also receive the Monitor Headphones worth of SEK 1,795 ($210 / €195) for free.

Marshall highlights the great quality audio processing inside the London, which consists of two front-facing speakers and two 3.5mm audio jack ports; that's quite unusual.

On the top side of the phone, there's the M-button, which allows users to access their music with just one click, whatever the source of it may be. Basically, you will be able to control your music on top of whatever else you have on your screen.

It's not about specs, but audio quality

Speaking of which, the London sports a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. On the right side of the phone, there's a scroll wheel, which enables quick access to volume control.

According to Marshall, the London packs the Wolfson WM8281 Audio Hub, a soundcard that gives the smartphone a separate processor for music, allowing it to play at a higher resolution.

Higher resolution means that even the best-quality MP3 will sound amazing when played with London. Additionally, it lets users play uncompressed music such as FLAC format.

The smartphone also comes with a Global Equalizer that applies the selected profile to whichever music player you use. An In Ears mode is included too.

Marshall London packs 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion. There's also a 2,500 mAh removable battery inside and an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back.
