Towards the end of last month, Adam Beach, who plays Slipnot in the upcoming “Suicide Squad,” revealed in an interview that Jared Leto had gone so Method for the role of The Joker that he actually sent the other members of the cast strange presents before getting on set to work.

Margot Robbie, who will be his love interest as Harley Quinn, got a live rat in the mail. She tells Elle Magazine that she kept it, because that’s what her character would have done.

Margot and her new pet, Rat Rat

Margot sat down with Elle for a brief interview meant to show readers what a day in her life is like. The Australian actress, who shot to international fame opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in “The Wolf of Wall Street” and also appeared with Will Smith in “Focus,” will be making it big when “Suicide Squad” drops in theaters in August 2016, because it will include her in the expanding Warner Bros. comic book-inspired universe.

From the first trailer for the film, released over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 and available below, it’s clear that her character and her relationship with The Joker will be central to the story.

It probably made sense for her to go Method as well, to deliver a more convincing performance.

So when she got the rat in the mail, even though she was urged to have it killed, Margot kept it. She named it Rat Rat and he’s now “dining on organic berries from Whole Foods.”

“If Harley got something from Joker, she'd probably cherish it,” Margot tells the publication. So she did the exact same thing.

Margot is 24, doesn’t mind it if you think she’s older

In the same interview, Margot reveals she’s not too keen on talking about her personal life and her boyfriend, and that she can recite Lil Wayne lyrics from memory. She loves to play games and she’s not much of a chit-chatter, preferring to go straight to the point.

She also talks about how it doesn’t cease to amaze her that people often assume that she’s older than she is. She’s 24, by the way, and she finds it hilarious how “outraged” people are when she tells them she’s not a decade older, at the very least.

“Suicide Squad” also stars Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis and Cara Delevingne, and is directed by David Ayer.
