Maybe more drone schools will follow after this one

Although tutorials of all sorts teaching people how to fly their drones are all over the internet, there aren't many "drone schools" in the world. Maplin just opened the first one.

Typical of capitalist societies that invent new means of teaching people how to mass operate a cutting-edge piece of technology, like drones, only to fulfill their private needs of having efficient drone "pilots," the UK electronics retailer decided that a "drone academy" would help training its staff to become experts in remote control copters.

According to PCR, the device of choice for the trainees is the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced Quadcopter Drone, and they will receive drone training from the retailer’s drone expert Russell Stephens. The first drone flying courses will take place in Rotherham at Maplin’s head office.

Among the first things Stephens is teaching the group is how to capture video footage and fly drones safely within the CAA guidelines. Maplin is a successful drone retailer that apparently is selling drones like hotcakes in the UK. With this in mind, the Maplin employees are receiving training to fully understand every bit of technicality behind the flying machines and also give the best advice possible to customers and interested enthusiasts.

At the moment the company's best sellers are the Parrot Bebop Drone with Skycontroller (£699.99, €945) and the Blade Chroma Quadcopter Drone (£1099.99, € 1486). Knowing these guys are actually going to "drone school" in order to sell you their drones, I'm more confident in their opinions when attempting to buy their flying machines.
