Just a few moments ago, the Manjaro community proudly announced the release of the third stable update for the Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) series of computer operating systems.

Probably the most important thing added in today's Manjaro Update 2016-01-13 (stable) is the brand-new, long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel, which was officially announced by Linus Torvalds just three days ago, on January 10, 2016. Additionally, the Linux kernel 3.12.52 LTS and Linux kernel 3.16.7.22 packages have also been added.

But kernel updates are not all that has been implemented in the third stable update for Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella), as the developers also managed to update the Mozilla Firefox web browser to version 43.0.4, PHP to version 7.0.2, KDE Plasma 5 to version 5.5.3, Eric IDE to version 6.1.1, and add lxqt-sudo support to Octopi.

Furthermore, Manjaro Update 2016-01-13 (stable) adds new Python and Haskell packages, fixes issues for the Budgie desktop implementation, renews the foomatic printer database, updates the Wireshark software to the latest version available, and adds GTK3 support to the KDE version of the operating system.

"We are happy to announce our third update for Manjaro 15.12 (Capella)," said Philip Müller on behalf of the Manjaro Development Team. "It is always good to check for updated packages, even we don’t notify you about them. Please give us feedback and report any findings with this update."

A massive update to the Manjaro Tools

Another interesting thing added in today's stable update for Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) is a massive update to the in-house built Manjaro Tools, which are now at version 0.10 and feature a new profile structure. Settings packages are now available for each Manjaro Linux edition, along with example profiles for maintainers.

Last but not least, the Thus graphical installer received some needed improvements, as well as a couple of new features, such as supports for NVMe SSD drives, mostly thanks to the implementation of Linux kernel 4.4 LTS, and better EFI installation support. The Manjaro Linux 15.12 repos have been synchronized with the upstream Arch Linux ones as of January 13, 2016. All users are urged to update as soon as possible!
