A game that started as a student project

Timelie is a brand-new indie game coming from a small team of developers in Bangkok, Thailand – Urnique Studio. Their game started as a student project and early versions of Timelie received several awards, including “Winner – Best Game” at Microsoft's 2019 Imagine Cup Student Development Competition, “Winner – Best Game” at the 2019 Thailand National Software Contest, and “Winner – Best Student Technical Project” at the 2019 Bangkok International Digital Content Festival.

As such, the folks at Urnique Studio decided to continue to work on their project and turn it into a full-fledged indie game. Today, the developers announced Timelie will be hitting PC this spring, so if you like the art and the concept, you can already wishlist it on Steam.

Since its inception as a student project, we’ve always had a keen interest in taking the idea of time manipulation past the point of putting together a really fun tech demo. We’re absolutely blown away by the game every single day and we’re really excited for players around the world to get their hands on it and see what makes it a truly special and unique experience,” said Parimeth Wongsatayanon, co-founder at Urnique Studio.

In Timelie, players can manipulate time using the “timeline” ability, which will allow them to jump both backward and forward in time to discover the mysteries of the world. As a genre, Timelie is a time manipulation puzzle solving game where you play as a girl trapped in a world where time flows in a strange way that allows her to envision both the past and the future.

Luckily, she's not alone in this strange world. A cat seems to be connected to the world as well, so she becomes the girl's only friend, a friendship that spans time and space.

The game features a unique mechanic that lets players plan actions for both characters – the girl and the cat – simultaneously on timeline. Basically, you'll be getting a co-op gameplay experience in a single-player game. If you're not content with the results of your actions, you can drag left to rewind time to the past and undo your actions. Also, you can drag right to seek the future.

Timelie does seem to stand out from other puzzlers not just through gameplay mechanics, but the art style looks gorgeous. We'll be keeping our eyes on this one and let you know when we have a release date.
