At least the cash came in a box marked “chicken wings”

Ordering takeout and not getting what you wanted is never fun. Well, not unless the delivery guy brings you a big pile of cash instead of the food you were expecting. Getting a whole lot of money instead of your dinner - now that's something not even the pickiest eater can complain about.

It might sound surreal, but this is precisely what happened to Mike Vegas of California late last week. On Friday, he ordered himself some chicken wings from a Domino's in Berkeley.

He was called to work in San Francisco, however, and so he didn't get around to opening the delivery box until the next day. When he did, he didn't find any chicken wings inside it. Instead, he found a total of $1,300 (€1,170) in cash, neatly arranged in two stacks.

Apparently, the delivery guy had made a mistake, and rather than fetch Mike Vegas the chicken wings he ordered, he got him a box that, although marked “chicken wings,” actually contained cash that was supposed to be taken to the bank.

“I got off work really late, and when I came back home I found the cash in the delivery box - a refrigerated deposit. I was rubbing my eyes at 5 a.m., laughing at myself,” Mike Vegas said in an interview, as cited by HuffPost.

Rather than keep the money for himself, as some people advised him, the California man called Domino's and returned the box together with the stacks of cash. As a thank you, Domino's offered him free pizza for an entire year.
