The body of a man was found in Demi Moore’s swimming pool, at her Beverly Hills home on Oak Pass Road, the LAPD confirms for People magazine. The victim has been identified as a 21-year-old man who had attended a party thrown by Moore’s assistant or caretaker the night before.

The actress was not at home at the time, and neither were her daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis, who have reportedly been staying there while their mom was out of town, throwing pool parties almost on a nightly basis.

Death was an accident

Demi and her daughters were not at home on the night before the man died. TMZ says that sources from the police reveal that Moore’s assistant threw a small party with about 5 to 6 people, one of whom was the victim.

The guests left together, except for the victim, who was, for some reason, left behind. It is believed that he tripped and fell into the pool, and drowned because he couldn’t swim. His body was found in the morning, at the bottom of the pool.

Police don’t suspect foul play, treating the investigation as a sad accident. Toxicology tests have been performed and the official cause of death will be made public once the results are back in, in a few weeks’ time.

Citing the same police sources, reports online note that only a limited amount of alcohol was consumed at the party.

Demi Moore releases statement

As news of this spread online, Demi Moore released a statement to the same media outlet, to clarify that she had nothing to do with the victim or the tragic circumstances in which he lost his life.

“I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got this devastating news,” she says. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”
