Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has already proved that it’s an efficient malware removal tool, but the application more or less disappointed when it came to real-time protection or other features that would have allowed it to become a full-time antivirus replacement.

Version 3.0, which was officially introduced today as Malwarebytes 3.0, is designed as a solution that can “finally replace your traditional antivirus,” as the developing company explains, so it incorporates all modules that were previously available separately, such as Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware, Website Protection, and Remediation tech.

Furthermore, the parent company focused on performance, promising that version 3.0 is capable of scanning a computer four times faster than before.

Support for Windows XP

Malwarebytes 3.0 continues to support all Windows versions that are still being used, and this doesn’t only include versions that still receive updates and security patches from Microsoft. As a result, the new security product works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10, but the Anti-Ransomware feature is only available on Windows 7 or higher.

What’s also very important is that Malwarebytes still runs well alongside a different security product, including Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials, so you can install it either as an additional security layer or as the only security solution on your PC.

Those who purchased Malwarebytes Anti-Malware don’t have to move a single finger because the license is automatically applied to the new version when updating.

“With the launch of Malwarebytes 3.0, we are confident that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus, thanks to our innovative and layered approach to preventing malware infections using a healthy combination of proactive and signature-less technologies,” the security firm said.

“We continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0.”

As usual, you can download Malwarebytes 3.0 from Softpedia and you can also purchase the Premium version for $39.99 per year.
