Apple likely to introduce three models in September

The Apple Watch has become a first-class citizen of Apple’s device family, so the company is working on some pretty big upgrades for the upcoming generation.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says in his newsletter that Apple will take the wraps off a total of three different Apple Watch models this year

It all starts with the new Apple Watch Series 8. While it’s still not clear if Apple still wants to bring the new design that was originally expected in 2021 (with straight edges a la iPhone 12), Gurman says the device will be the biggest upgrade since the debut of the original Apple Watch.

No new health sensors would be added, but Apple will focus more on activity tracking and performance improvements. There’s also a chance the upcoming Apple Watch would be able to measure the body temperature, but for now, it’s not yet clear if this feature is ready or not.

New Apple Watch SE coming

Then, Apple is working on finishing the first update for the Apple Watch SE. The device could be launched alongside the Series 8 in the fall and obviously come at a lower price. At this point, its new specifications aren’t known.

And last but not least, the 2022 Apple Watch lineup is expected to include a new model that’s specifically aimed at extreme sports, possibly coming with a more rugged design and a bigger battery to allow for longer tracking with the GPS sensor activated.

It goes without saying the Cupertino-based tech giant has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to its upcoming Apple Watch announcements, and this is the reason you shouldn’t take anything for granted for now. More information will probably emerge as we approach the upcoming September launch date when all the aforementioned devices are projected to see the daylight officially.
