14 DAY TRIAL // After sharing the first cinematic trailer with Mafia 3, publisher 2K Games and developer Hangar 13 have just revealed some actual gameplay and story details, not to mention a few screenshots that depict great visuals, intense chases, and tough shootouts.
Mafia 3 is the next iteration in the long-running open-world series originally made by the 2K Czech studio. Unfortunately for the developer, its doors were shut down a few years ago and 2K Games took the Mafia 3 project to a new team, Hangar 13.
Yesterday, the first cinematic trailer for Mafia 3 was revealed to the world, setting the stage in terms of story, while presenting the main character, Lincoln Clay, as well as his allies and enemies.
2K sheds some light on Mafia 3's story and gameplay details
After leaving fans to speculate about the new title for a brief period of time, 2K Games and Hangar 13 arrive with some actual details about the main story and its gameplay.
First up, the main focus, as mentioned above, is on Lincoln Clay who, after the Vietnam War, returns to New Orleans and tries to find solace in working for the black mob. After a massacre perpetrated by the Italian mob, Clay swears revenge and starts working with other criminals to take out the Italian mafia.
Hangar 13 emphasizes that the title has a great recreation of New Orleans, complete with period cars, entertainment, music, fashion, and much more.
In terms of gameplay, players can choose how to lead Clay's organization by using violent and brute-force methods to disrupt the Italians, or by employing more cunning procedures. These choices have an impact on the story, according to the developer, as well as on New Orleans overall.
As you can see in the screenshots above, the game is looking quite good in terms of visuals, and players will be able not only to drive cars and engage in chases but also to enter some thrilling shootouts.
Mafia 3 is set to launch in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
