The team at EA Sports in charge of Madden NFL 16 is announcing that it is planning to deliver a massive new Championship competition for the American football simulator, which will have a final tournament during the Electronic Arts Play events that will happen alongside the E3 2016 trade show.

Fans of the title will be able to play to pick up a share of the 50,000 dollars (44,000 Euro) prize, with the two featured modes being Draft Champions Ranked and the all-new Salary Cap Ranked experience, which is currently in beta on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The new experience asks gamers to create the best possible Ultimate Team selection while staying under a total spending cap for players, which calls for increased strategic thinking and careful planning.

Salary Cap Ranked is designed to better simulate the constraints associated with running a real-world team and will appeal to those who want to make important decisions about players and spending at every turn.

Gamers can take part in the qualifying process during the coming weeks on both home consoles, and the top 64 on each platform will be invited to first round of the Championship. Then, Madden Challenge finalists, Draft Champions Ranked season 2 finalists, and Salary Cap Ranked finalists will take part in the EA Play competition that will crown the overall winner.

EA Sports is not yet talking about Madden NFL 17

The Championship and the big final event are giving EA Sports a new way to boost interest in the simulation now that the actual real-world season is on hiatus and a new video game has not yet been announced.

Todd Sitrin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Competitive Gaming Division at EA, states, "Madden NFL players can be some of the fiercest competitors out there, and we’re excited to celebrate their passion and skill with the Madden NFL 16 Championship. We look forward to incredible competition in the community as the Madden NFL 16 Championship builds to the finals taking place on stage at EA Play in June."

EA Sports will probably deliver an official reveal for Madden NFL 17 at some point during E3 2017, and the company has previously suggested that it might be aiming to tweak the way the very popular Ultimate Team works.

Outside sources are estimating that its various versions in sports sims created by the company represent one of the most important digital revenue streams in its portfolio.
