m23 rock 11.4 has been released. The latest update comes with some expanded features as well as updates for Debian in particular. One big addition is that m23 rock 11.4 now supports TDE, the Trinity Desktop Environment. The new version also adds support for Debian Squeeze.

m23 is a Linux distro designed to make it easy to deploy and manage several Linux machines on a network from a central place.

It can be used on hundreds of machines and can install Ubuntu, Fedora, Linux Mint, OpenSuSE and Debian.

"We've done it! m23 rock 11.4 is ready - and now Debian Squeeze is available as an additional client distribution and TDE (which can be seen as a continuation of KDE3) was added to the list of desktop interfaces to choose from," an announcement on the projects' homepage read.

If there are any KDE3 nostalgics out there, and there probably are, they'll be glad to know that they'll now be able to relive their youth with TDE an actively developed project which aims to carry the banner as everyone else moves on to KDE4, GNOME3 or Unity. TDE is available via m23 only on Debian Squeeze.

The team boasts about some improvements to KDE4 as well, gstreamer is now the default backend for the Phonon API.

To add support for Debian Squeeze, the team updated several components, for example the m23-xorg.conf generator, which is used to create the xorg.conf file on clients, now supports newer VirtualBox versions.

m23 now provides more info on clients installed via the tool or integrated later. The first and the last name of the main user, the default language, user and group numbers and other info is available.
