14 DAY TRIAL // We've been informed today by Black Lab Software's CEO Roberto J. Dohnert about the release roadmap of the recently liberated Linspire and Freespire Linux-based operating systems.
If you think the release of Linspire 7.0 and Freespire 3.0 were just a one-off, think again because we're now in possession of the release roadmap for both operating systems, and it looks like we should be able to get our hands on the next major releases at the end of the year. But, in the meanwhile, we'll be able to test a lot of the beta versions for both Freespire 4.0 and Linspire 8.0, as well as to enjoy new incremental versions of current releases.
"Today we are releasing the release schedule and roadmap for Linspire and Freespire. These dates are not set in stone and there may be some alterations due to holidays and development mishaps. While the Freespire beta's will be available publicly the Linspire beta's will be available to subscription holders and insiders," says Roberto J. Dohnert in today's announcement.
Here's the release roadmap of Linspire and Freespire for 2018
According to the release roadmap, first thing first there will be a Linspire HPC 7.0 release early next week, on January 15, 2018. After that, the first incremental updates to both Linspire 7.0 and Freespire 3.0 are coming as versions 3.0.8 and 7.0.8 on April 2 and April 29 respectively. The first major releases, Linspire 7.5 and Freespire 3.5 are coming this summer on June 1, followed by the first beta version of Freespire 4.0 "Albacore" on July 1, 2018.
The second Freespire 4.0 "Albacore" beta is expected on August 17, followed a few weeks later by the first beta of Linspire 8.0 "Albacore" on September 9, 2018. A second beta release of Linspire 8.0 "Albacore" will be out on October 31, but, until then, users will be able to update to the Linspire 7.5.1 and Freespire 3.5.1 incremental releases on the 1st of October. The final releases of Freespire 4.0 and Linspire 8.0 are hitting the streets on December 12, 2018. Finally, Linspire HPC 7.5 is coming December 31, 2018.
