The Document Foundation's Mike Saunders announced today that the third bug hunting session of the upcoming LibreOffice 6.0 open-source office suite would take place this Friday, December 22.

LibreOffice 6.0 just exited beta testing and the development cycle will continue this week with the first Release Candidate, which should be available to download by the end of the week as The Document Foundation plans a third bug hunting session just before the Christmas holidays, on December 22, 2017.

"On December 22 we will have an international Bug Hunting Session (BHS), testing the RC1 (first release candidate) of LibreOffice 6.0," writes Mike Saunders. "You can download, try out and test this RC1 version – and if you spot any bugs, let our QA (Quality Assurance) community know."

The announcement also says that mentors will be available from 11:00 UTC to 15:00 UTC on December 22 to help those interesting in testing the first LibreOffice 6.0 Release Candidate to file bugs if they encounter any. "Together we can make LibreOffice 6.0 the best release ever, for millions of people around the world," said Saunders.

LibreOffice 6.0 is due in late January 2018

This would be the last development version of LibreOffice 6.0 to be released in 2017, as the development cycle will continue throughout the month of January with two more Release Candidate (RC) builds, on the week of  January 8 and the week of January 22 respectively. The final release of LibreOffice 6.0 is due in late January 2018.

Until then, you'll soon be able to download the first Release Candidate of LibreOffice 6.0 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating system through our software portal if you want to take it for a test drive and participate in the third bug hunting session later this week. Stay tuned for the download links!
