14 DAY TRIAL // The first Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches will make their debut in the United States, and AT&T is one of the carriers to offer the one that comes with cellular connectivity, the LG Watch Sport.
Starting February 10, LG Watch Sport will be available for purchase at AT&T for $49.99 with a 2-year agreement when you purchase an LG G5 or V20 smartphone on AT&T Next.
Customers who don't want either of the two smartphones will also be able to grab the smartwatch for $17.50 per month for 20 months on an AT&T Installment Plan. LG Watch Sport will be available at AT&T in both titanium and dark blue colors.
With LG Watch Sport, AT&T customers will be able to send and receive texts, as well as make and receive calls using the same mobile number as their smartphones via the NumberSync service.
“LG Watch Sport’s combination of Android Wear 2.0 and LTE connectivity with AT&T’s NumberSync provides the features and mobility that customers demand. AT&T is the only U.S. carrier to offer a network-based solution that links your mobile number to your LG Watch Sport. NumberSync isn’t a beta program,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device and Network Services Marketing.
Spec-wise, the LG Watch Sport comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 768MB RAM, and 4GB storage. The smartwatch sports a 1.38-inch plastic OLED display with 480 x 480 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass Coating 3.
The smartwatch features accelerometer, ambient light, barometer, gyroscope and heart rate sensor. It's powered by a 430mAh battery and features wireless charging.
Aside from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2, LG Watch Sport has cellular connectivity (LTE bands 2, 4, 5, and 13), GPS and NFC (Near Field Communication).
The LG Watch Sport also offers Android Pay support, Google Assistant integration, as well as IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
