The phone’s durability is tested in the video

LG released the LG V20 just yesterday, and it seems that the phone has already been subjected to various tests meant to assess its durability and resistance. Android Authority has just posted a video with the V20 being tested in multiple drops from varying distances.

LG’s V20 comes with a metal build made from recycled aircraft, which means that the smartphone boasts military-grade protection. The handset packs a removable back cover and battery, which will come off multiple times in the video.

The test consists of the phone being dropped on its back, bottom side, and screen. Following the back drop, the device’s back case came off, and the battery also broke apart from the phone. The display didn’t suffer any problems, as there weren’t any scuffs around the phone, and the back case didn’t have any marks, except for a bit of blemish on the side.

The smartphone’s screen cracked after several drops on its display

The device was fully functional following the back drop test. During the side drop, the phone’s battery popped out yet again, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, considering that it can potentially absorb the shock from the drop.

The phone had a little scratch in the corner, and there were some marks on the battery after it was tumbled around. The drop on its display didn’t cause any damage on the phone, and there were no scratches or cracks on the screen, even though it fell on the pavement.

The smartphone was also dropped from an even higher height, and although scratches or cracks were noticed during the first and second drop, it seems that the third drop was fatal for the handset’s display. The screen on the V20 cracked into small pieces, but the phone remained functional. Overall, the device’s body is quite durable with the metal casing, and the display did survive rather well during the tests, despite the fact that its screen cracked. Truth be told, all screens crack in certain conditions.
