LG Electronics unveiled on Monday the new LG Q7 Android-powered mid-range smartphone series consisting of three devices with updated components and new technologies.

The 2018 LG Q7 series consists of the LG Q7, LG Q7+, and LG Q7α, and they feature functionality that LG usually implements in its premium line-up of smartphones, such as the recently released LG G7 ThinQ. Following in the footsteps of last year's LG Q6 line-up, the new LG Q7 series introduces highly requested features like Hi-Fi quality audio and DTS:X 3D surround sound, back-mounted fingerprint sensor, water & dust resistance, QLens, and Portrait mode.

"Consumers in the market for a balanced smartphone with the latest premium features will find the LG Q7 very hard to resist," said Ha Jeung-uk, senior vice president and business unit leader for LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With selected features just only recently introduced in our 2018 LG G7ThinQ, the Q7 is a great combination of features, design, performance, and price."

Technical specifications of the 2018 LG Q7 smartphone series

Powered by either 1.5 GHz Octa-Core or 1.8GHz Octa-Core processors, the 2018 LG Q7 smartphone series launched today by LG Electronics feature 5.5-inch Full HD+ FullVision displays with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution, 18:9 ratio, and 442 ppi density, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage for the LG Q7 and LG Q7α, as well as 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage for the LG Q7+.

Of course, the internal storage of all devices can be expanded to up to 2TB with a memory card. While the LG Q7 and LG Q7α feature a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and 8MP or 5MP Sper Wide Angle front cameras (LG Q7α only features a 5MP front camera), the more advanced LG Q7+ comes with a 16MP rear camera with PDAF and either 8MP or 5MP Super Wide Angle front cameras.

Connectivity-wise, the 2018 LG Q7 smartphone series supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE (Low Energy), NFC, LTE, 3G, and 2G mobile networks, and USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and data transfer. All three phones are using the Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating system with Google Assistant, face recognition, FM radio, Music Flash, Timer Helper, Flash Jump Cut, and Smart Rear Key.

As far as the battery goes, it would appear that all three devices come with a 3,000mAh and fast charging capabilities. LG says that the 2018 LG Q7 line-up is MIL-STD 810G compliant as it passed fourteen of the tests designed by the United States military to evaluate the performance of various digital equipment when used under harsh environments.

The LG Q7 series will be available for purchase in select Europen markets early next month and will come to more countries in the Americas and Asia sometime after that. Both the LG Q7 and LG Q7+ are offered in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet colors, while the LG Q7α will only come in Moroccan Blue color. Price details will be announced by LG next month.
