LG's Stylo range of smartphones were conceived to provide affordable phablets with styluses for users to perform all sort of tasks. The company has just released the third phablet in the series and has made it available at Metro PCS for the price of $200.

The first LG Stylo was unveiled in last May, and it was made available at pre-paid carriers like Cricket or Boost. LG Stylo 2 followed in April, and a new phablet has been released today. It's called the LG Stylo 2 Plus and comes with some improvements compared to its predecessor.

LG Stylo 2 Plus sports a 5.7-inch HD display with a 720p resolution, the same as on the LG Stylo, made available at Virgin Mobile. The phablet runs Snapdragon 430 processor, compared to the Snapdragon 410 on the predecessor model. This means that the phablet packs an octa-core 1.4GHz CPU coupled with an Adreno 505 graphics processing unit.

Battery capacity was lowered to 2,900mAh on LG Stylo 2 Plus

In addition, LG Stylo 2 Plus guarantees the same rear camera capacity, namely 13MP, whereas a 5MP unit is packed on the front. The phablet has a fingerprint scanner on the back, located over the button setup. It also has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory with the option to expand to 2TB using a microSD card.

LG Stylo 2 Plus' main advantage is the stylus pen that allows users to write on the phone's display even when it's turned off, using the Screen-off Memo feature. Also worth mentioning is that the phablet runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box.

Battery capacity was reduced from 3,000mAh on the Stylo 2 to 2,900mAh on the Stylo 2 Plus. The downgrade is rather minor and shouldn't affect the whole user experience, considering that processor performance was upped thanks to Snapdragon 430.

LG Stylo 2 Plus is available from Metro PCS for $219 or $149 after a $70 mail-in rebate.
