LG has just announced another mid-range Android smartphone that will soon be available for purchase in selected markets. The new LG Ray won't be launched worldwide, at least not at first, but it will surely make its debut in Russia and Latin America countries.

While we don't know when the smartphone will go on sale, LG confirmed that the Ray would cost 15,000 rubles in Russia, which is about $230 or €215.

It might be cheaper in other regions, especially that Russian prices are slightly higher than those in the rest of the world.

But let's see what LG Ray has to offer for the price. First of all, the smartphone ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but there's no telling whether or not LG will provide a Marshmallow update in the future.

Spec-wise, LG Ray comes equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Metal body and sleek form factor

Furthermore, LG Ray sports a large 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display, but just like every other mid-range smartphone it only supports HD (720p) resolution.

At the back, the smartphone packs a more than decent 13-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and video recording, while in the front there's a no less impressive 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

LG Ray drains energy from a high-capacity 3,000 mAh battery, which hasn't been rated by the manufacturer yet.

If you plan to purchase the LG Ray for its connectivity capabilities, then you should know the smartphone does not support 4G LTE.

This means owners will only rely on 3G data speeds and other connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB 2.0. No word on whether or not it will be rolled out in countries other than CIS and Latin America.
